Vicky (Wickie) the Viking is a little boy with reddish-blonde, shoulder-length hair who lives in the Viking village of Flake with his parents Ylva and Halvar, the Chief. But he’s not your typical Viking boy – he’s timid and not very strong, and prefers to live by brain over brawn. Just for that, he has a knack for coming up with just the right idea to help out friends and grown-ups, even when all hope seems lost…

Vicky has all sorts of wild adventures together with his father Halvar – who’s brave strong but not especially bright – and, if not especially bright – and his crew, consisting of the constantly bickering duo Tjure and Snorre, ancient Urobe, the constantly delighted Gorm, the town bard Ulme and big fat Faxe. They’re always on the look-out for their arch-nemesis, Sven the Terrible.

But let’s tell the story one thing at a time: One morning our little Viking village of Flake is raided by frightening looking spooky demons who kidnap all the children… except for Vicky, who was stuck in a tree trying to use a kite to learn to fly. Vicky’s father Halvar, the most thick-skulled Viking ever, resolves to give chase to the creepy-looking kidnappers right away and heroically save the children of Flake. Vicky stows away on board and, once he is discovered, has the idea that saves our mighty Vikings from Sven the Terrible at the last moment, sparing them a painful fate.

They sail on through dense fog and discover an eerie Chinese ghost junk adrift, which they accidentally sink while searching it. Vicky vanishes, and Halvar blames himself, thinking his son is drowned. Actually, however, Vicky is in a chest that gets fished out of the sea by Sven the Terrible. Thus, Vicky finds out that Sven is behind the raid on Flake and is headed for Thule to find the legendary treasure of King Tool.

But what’s the connection between the treasure and the kidnapped children? Vicky manages to escape and tell his dad about Sven’s evil plans. A race against time begins, and no one knows how to stop Sven – well, almost no one…
