Sarah Arnott's Biography
Sarah Arnott has been working in the film business for 15 years – in a combination of sales, financing & production companies. She was at Guy East’s Majestic Films & Television for two years before spending seven years with Mel Gibson’s Icon Entertainment. During that time she rose to become their UK based head of development.
Sarah then joined Odyssey Entertainment as its head of acquisitions – projects acquired as part of her remit during that era were “THE LIBERTINE” (with Johnny Depp, John Malkovich); “PHANTOM OF THE OPERA” (Andrew Lloyd Webber’s $82m production directed by Joel Schumacher); “AN EDUCATION” (starring Carey Mulligan, directed by Lone Scherfig & written by Nick Hornby); “IS ANYBODY THERE” (produced by ‘Harry Potter’ producer David Heyman; starring Michael Caine) and “AUGUST RUSH” (starring Freddie Highmore & Robin Williams). Odyssey also had a slate of very successful animated movies “VALIANT”, “SPACE CHIMPS” and “HAPPILY N’EVER AFTER”.
Since September 2009 she has been the SVP Production & Acquisitions for Timeless Films. Her remit is to look for theatrical feature films – part of that role means meeting producers, writers, directors, agents etc., and reading a vast amount of screenplays. She then makes a decision based on the screenplay, the quality of the writing, the crew attached, the potential for cast, budget size, the potential for an international market etc. As a company, producers approach Timeless to help them raise and coordinate the financing of their feature films, as well as the marketing and distribution worldwide. Projects so far include THE WEDDING VIDEO from writer Tim Firth (Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots) and director Nigel Cole (Calendar Girls, Saving Grace, Made in Dagenham), 2:22 from director Paul Currie, starring Armie Hammer (The Social Network, J Edgar, The Lone Ranger) and THE MOON & THE SUN from producer Bill Mechanic (Coraline) and director Sean McNamara (the Soul Surfer).
