04 Sep 2019

China Lion, HB Wink, Huayi Tencent Entertainment Ltd, Tolerable Entertainment and Timeless Films have announced that ‘Extinct’, the latest animation feature directed by David Silverman (The Simpsons Movie, co-director, Monsters Inc.) and co-directed by Raymond Persi (The Simpsons) is being brought to life by Adam Devine (The Righteous Gemstones), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2) and Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians).

Also joining the cast is Jim Jefferies (The Jim Jefferies Show), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Reggie Watts (The Late Late Show with James Corden) and Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

The official US-Chinese co-produced film is written by The Simpsons veterans Joel Cohen, John Frink, and Rob LaZebnik, and is being produced by Yanming Jiang, Joe Aguilar and Matthew Berkowitz. Academy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino (Up) has also joined the production to score the film. Timeless Films have come onboard to handle international sales, beginning with the Toronto International Film Festival. The film is in production at Cinesite in Montreal and is slated for a 2020 theatrical release.

The original adventure-comedy follows Op and Ed, two adorable donut-shaped animals -- FLUMMELS -- who accidentally time-travel from 1835 to modern-day Shanghai.  There they discover traffic, trans fats, and worst of all, that flummels are now extinct. It's up to this bumbling pair to save themselves and their species... and, just maybe, change the course of history.

Timeless’ CEO & Chairman Ralph Kamp commented: “We are thrilled to be working on this amazing project and introduce the world to flummels! Joel, John and Rob along with David and the producers have put together a world class team and we know audiences worldwide will fall in love with these characters. We are really looking forward to screening the first footage from this incredibly funny film to our distributors at Toronto”.
